Corporate Social Responsibility

We believe in taking CSR very seriously at The Mitre, this means ensuring we practice responsible retailing, procure ethically sourced produce and place the safety of our employees and customers at the forefront of our business.

Here are a few things we do to ensure we act in a responsible manner:

Cove Seafood, Poole Dorset

Our fish monger uses only sustainable stocks of sea food. Where served, Tuna is Yellow Fin only. Both Tuna & Swordfish are line caught in Sri-Lanka

Sourcing our produce from British suppliers:

Not only does this ensure you receive the best quality of fresh ingredients in your meals but also that we are behaving in a responsible manner. By sourcing much of our meat produce from the UK we can maintain quality control and keep food miles to a minimum. The map below illustrates where we source our meat from, ensuring you it hasn’t travelled too far to get to your plate!

Fair Trade

We are also passionate about Fair Trade products in our pub, all of our tea and coffee is sourced from Fairtrade farms. This means the farmers and workers producing our coffee receive better pay, working conditions and fair terms. These farms are all paid sustainable prices, so we never pay below market price for the coffee.

By purchasing coffee in this way we can also work with specific farms and estates where the coffee beans are grown. For more information on the work of the Fairtrade organisation, visit Fairtrade.org
